From the moment I stumbled across their Instagram some ten years ago, I have been enchanted by the work of Sinclair & Moore. I’ve followed along through the years, eagerly looking forward to Steve’s wedding weekend recaps and holiday celebrations alike. I remember when the first wedding workshop was announced, and I know if I scroll back far enough, there’s more than a few screenshots shared with my mom, chatting excitedly about how I’d be there someday.
Last March, I FINALLY made it happen! I registered, booked a flight, and headed to Seattle.
Walking into the workshop, I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. Surrounded by a room full of seasoned creatives, I wondered if I really belonged. All apprehension melted away as I was warmly welcomed by the women on the Sinclair & Moore team. It was immediately clear that this was a kind and supportive community.
When I finally met Steve (my hero!!) in person, I was delighted to find that he was exactly the person I thought he would be, but funnier! His genuine, kind, and gracious nature shone through in every interaction. Despite his impressive reputation, he remained approachable and down-to-earth, instantly putting everyone at ease.
DAY ONE was all about the elements of event design and creating centerpiece arrangements for the weekend to be featured in a real wedding our group would participate in on Saturday. We spent the morning getting to know our peers, listening to stories, and talking through the Sinclair & Moore design process. A majority of the workshop attendees were florists, but there were also a handful of planners (like me!), a few cake artists, and even a few ladies who just came to try something new! Being surrounded by like-minded individuals who share a passion for creating beauty was both fun and empowering, as we leaned on and learned from one another. In the afternoon, we watched a step-by-step demonstration before breaking off to create our own centerpieces—gaining insight and hands-on experience with floral mechanics, placement, varieties, and more.
DAY TWO we dove into bridal bouquets and finished the afternoon with a discussion on the foundations of business. The heart and soul poured into every aspect of the Sinclair & Moore business is both humbling and inspiring—each detail crafted with intentionality, each interaction marked by exceptional care and kindness. Steve’s insights throughout the workshop provided invaluable guidance that not only deepened our understanding of floral and wedding design, but also strengthened confidence in our own abilities and aspirations. We wrapped up in the studio and met the next morning on-site at the historic Fairmont Olympic (scroll for real wedding photos!!).
WEDDING DAY – On the third day, we were treated to a real wedding experience at the historic Fairmont Olympic in Seattle with lessons and tips sprinkled in as we moved through the day’s setup and production. The atmosphere was calm and composed as we created ceremony aisle florals, filled bud vases, and took notes on everything. From witnessing the behind-the-scenes hustle and bustle of preparations to marveling at the beauty of the ceremony and reception spaces, it was a firsthand glimpse into the joy and excitement of bringing a couple’s dream wedding to life!
In the end, the Sinclair & Moore workshop was more than just a learning experience—it was a journey of self-discovery and growth. As I reflect on my time there, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to learn from Steve and the connections made with fellow attendees. I still chat with several of the ladies online and watch as their businesses flourish! As I look to the future, I am filled with excitement and determination to continue pursuing my dreams, knowing that with dedication and perseverance, anything is possible.
